Hey there! I’m Matt Owenby
— a musician and music teacher with over 20 years of experience helping people discover the joy of playing guitar, bass, drums, and piano. Music has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, and teaching has become one of my greatest passions.
I’ve had the privilege of working with students of all ages and skill levels, from absolute beginners to seasoned players looking to take their musicianship to the next level. My goal in every lesson is to make learning music fun, approachable, and inspiring — while giving you the tools and confidence to play the songs you love.
I earned my Associate’s Degree in Music and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, which has helped me blend creativity with structure in both teaching and performing. As a multi-instrumentalist, I love connecting the dots between instruments — showing how rhythm, melody, and harmony all come together to make great music.
In addition to private teaching, I’m proud to volunteer with Guitars for Vets, a nonprofit program that provides free lessons and guitars to U.S. Veterans. It’s an incredible way to give back through music and to witness firsthand how powerful and healing playing an instrument can be.
